Abstract:

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, necessitating effective diagnostic tools for early detection and management. Cardiovascular ultrasound, or echocardiography, has become a cornerstone in the non-invasive diagnosis of various cardiovascular conditions due to its ability to provide real-time, high-resolution images of the heart and vascular structures. This technique allows clinicians to assess cardiac function, blood flow, and structural abnormalities without the need for invasive procedures. As technology advances, cardiovascular ultrasound has evolved to include new imaging modalities, such as Doppler and three-dimensional imaging, which enhance diagnostic accuracy and provide a more detailed evaluation of cardiovascular function. The primary objective of this paper is to review the significance of cardiovascular ultrasound in diagnosing CVD, particularly in detecting conditions like heart failure, valvular diseases, coronary artery disease, and congenital heart defects. Furthermore, this review aims to explore the comparative advantages of ultrasound over other diagnostic modalities, such as CT scans and MRIs, in terms of accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and patient comfort. The hypothesis posits that cardiovascular ultrasound, when utilized in conjunction with other diagnostic methods, can significantly improve patient outcomes by facilitating early diagnosis and personalized treatment strategies. By consolidating existing research and highlighting recent advancements in echocardiographic technologies, this paper underscores the pivotal role of cardiovascular ultrasound in contemporary cardiovascular disease management.
